The Troy Jewish Community came together on Sunday evening for an annual Yom Hashoah Observance. Our Student Rabbi, Noah Arnow, with Rabbi Deborah Gordon from Congregation Berith Shalom, led the participants through readings, hymns, and the mourner's kaddish. Rabbi Arnow started the evening by asking people to share with their neighbors, why they came tonight. Turning to the person next to us, we learned the many reasons why so many people came to be part of the observance. Several Holocaust survivors attended and read from the bima along with members of the community there to simply make sure the world does not forget and to remember the millions who died.
