Our Rabbi
Rabbi Robert Kasman
Being our teacher and religious leader fulfills many of Rabbi Kasman’s childhood dreams, and his enthusiasm for his work engages our community. Robert Kasman received an undergraduate degree in Comparative Religion from Columbia University and a New York State teacher’s certificate from Barnard College. The Jewish Theological Seminary ordained him in 1989, and since then, he has served as an award-winning school principal and pulpit rabbi. He has been at Beth El in Troy since 2010. Rabbi Kasman is also a pastoral care professional with more than a decade of service as the Jewish Community Chaplain at Albany Medical Center, training interns in visiting Jewish patients. Rabbi Kasman pretends he is writing a fantasy novel in his spare time.
